Project Address:

Uganda

WESDUN is a trusted provider of high-quality flow control and metering solutions, and it has successfully delivered a batch of LXLC water meters to Uganda. This delivery is a key step to enhance the East African nation’s water resource management, as the collaboration helps Uganda improve water efficiency, expand reliable water services, and work toward the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6.

Right now, Uganda faces unique water management challenges. Specifically, these include rising demand for clean water, the need to reduce non-revenue water, and ongoing infrastructure growth. The Uganda Bureau of Statistics says water consumption rose 1.2% in 2024, while water resources slightly declined—and this shows an urgent need for efficient metering solutions. Notably, Uganda’s National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has included reliable metering in its 2025-2030 infrastructure upgrade plan, which makes the partnership very timely.

WESDUN’s LXLC Water Meters: Tailored for Uganda’s Needs

WESDUN engineers its supplied meters specifically for Uganda’s water distribution networks to meet the country’s needs. They combine durability, precision and adaptability, and they meet ISO 4064 standards. These water meters include multi-nozzle dry brass water meters and detachable rotor water meters, and they work reliably even in remote, low-power areas. This is critical for rural regions and refugee-hosting zones targeted by the Integrated Water Management and Development Project (IWMDP).

The meters have key features that address Uganda’s needs. These features include IP68 protection for harsh conditions, a 10-year battery life to cut down on maintenance, and RS 485/GPRS communication for remote monitoring. With these features, Ugandan authorities can track water usage, detect leaks quickly, optimize distribution, reduce waste and lower operational costs—and this directly addresses Uganda’s top water management priorities.

Driving Sustainable Water Management in Uganda

This partnership matches Uganda’s water infrastructure goals, including the World Bank-funded IWMDP. The IWMDP aims to improve water access in small towns, rural areas and refugee districts like Adjumani and Yumbe. WESDUN’s meters provide accurate consumption data, and this data is essential for fair billing, demand management and long-term planning.

“Reliable metering is the foundation of sustainable water management,” said a WESDUN representative. “Our meters are built to handle local conditions. They help Uganda make progress toward SDG and build a climate-resilient water system.”

Beyond this delivery, the partnership also shows growing demand for affordable, high-performance metering solutions across Africa. WESDUN’s products balance quality and cost, which makes them a good fit for emerging markets like Uganda. This also sets the stage for long-term collaboration between WESDUN and Uganda.

Looking Ahead: Long-Term Collaboration

Building on this successful partnership, WESDUN is committed to supporting Uganda beyond the initial meter supply. It will provide full technical support and after-sales service, which helps Uganda get the most value from its investment. This commitment also paves the way for future water management projects across East Africa.

To meet these growing needs, WESDUN offers tailored metering solutions for African utilities. These solutions range from residential mechanical meters to industrial smart meters. WESDUN has delivered over 600,000 meters worldwide, and it brings proven expertise and reliability to every project.
