Selection/ installation

- To determine the type, metering characteristics, and caliber of the water meter, consider the working conditions of the water supply facility. Ensure its expected flow rate matches the Q1 to Q3 flow rates of the water meter.
- Install the water meter as marked on its dial: “H” stands for horizontal installation, “V” stands for vertical installation, and the arrow on the meter body must align with the direction of water flow in the pipeline.
- Install plugs or stop valves upstream and downstream of the water meter, install straight pipe sections of sufficient length and the same diameter according to the requirements of U10, D5 (10DN, 5DN) to ensure accurate measurement.
- If necessary, install a filter between the upstream valve and the straight pipe section, and fit a check valve between the downstream straight pipe section and the valve.
- Protect the water meter from damage caused by impact and vibration at the installation site.
- Avoid excessive stress on the water meter caused by pipes and fittings. If necessary, mount the water meter on a base or bracket. Secure the upstream and downstream water pipes properly to prevent any displacement from water thrust when removing the meter or disconnecting either side.
- The pipe installation should leave the necessary length for the water meter connection. When the distance between the pipes at both ends exceeds the length of the water meter, correct the pipe distance to match the water meter connection length. If the distance is too small, forced installation will break and damage the water meter’s threaded connection end, pipe joint, connection nut or flange. Do not install the water meter under this condition. If the pipes at both ends of the water meter are not on the same axis, use other methods to align the pipes on the same axis and meet the water meter installation requirements. Otherwise, the same damage will occur. To compensate for length errors during water meter installation and simplify water meter disassembly and assembly, use an expansion joint of the corresponding caliber downstream of the water meter with Q3≥16m³/h.
- The pipe should be flushed before installation to prevent stones, sand and other debris in the pipe from entering the water meter.
- It is recommended that the water outlet be more than 0.5m higher than the water meter.
Maintenance and use
- In order to ensure the water meter to work for a long time, the water meter should always be filled with water.
- Take measures to protect the water meter from damage caused by adverse hydraulic conditions such as cavitation, surge and water hammer.
- Protect the water meter from direct exposure and freezing. Take anti-freezing measures in cold conditions. Shield water meters from external corrosion and damage.
- During long-term use, calibrate water meters periodically according to local requirements. If debris, rust or other sediments in the pipe block the water filter and affect accurate measurement, ask the designated department to perform recalibration. Users must not repair water meters without permission.
