Key Notes for Water Meter Installation
- To ensure the highest measurement accuracy, install a straight pipe section (with the same cross-section as the main pipe) at least 5 times the pipe diameter in length before the water meter’s inlet, and a straight pipe section at least 2 times the pipe diameter in length after the water meter’s outlet.
- Do not use reduced-diameter pipes for the connecting pipes upstream and downstream of the water meter.
- We recommend installing flow control equipment (such as valves) and filters in the pipeline.
- When installing the flange, keep the sealing ring from protruding into the pipe or shifting from its correct position.
- Clean the water meter thoroughly before installation to stop debris from damaging the meter components.
- Align the water meter’s flow direction mark with the actual water flow direction in the pipeline.
- After installing the water meter, open the valve slowly to fill the pipeline with water—this prevents high-speed airflow from damaging the water meter.
- When choosing the installation position, make sure the pipeline stays fully filled with water and stop air bubbles from accumulating inside the meter. Never install the water meter at the highest point of the pipeline.
- Take protective measures to shield the water meter from water pressure surges.
- Install small-diameter rotor-type water meters horizontally; tilting them forward, backward, left, or right will lower their sensitivity.
- Water meters fall into two types: dry-type and wet-type. For wet-type water meters, water or water vapor under the glass cover is a normal phenomenon. If you install the meter in old pipelines, pipelines with poor water quality, or at the end of the pipeline, rust and contaminants will affect how clearly you can read the meter.
