Introductions
LXE series electromagnetic water meter is a kind of instrument for measuring the volume flow of conductive liquid based on Faraday’s principle of electromagnetic induction. It has the characteristics of wide range, low initial flow, low pressure loss, real-time measurement, cumulative measurement, Bi-direction measurement, etc.
It mainly uses DMA zoning, online monitoring, water loss analysis and statistical settlement of water supply mains.
The product complies with national standards GB/T778-2018 “Drinking Cold Water Meter and Hot Water Meter”, JJG162-2009 “Cold Water Meter”.

Selection, installation and Use

- It is recommended to determine the type, metering characteristics and caliber of the water meter according to the working conditions of the water supply facility. Its expected flow rate should be compatible with the Q1 to Q3 flow rates of the water meter.
- Avoid excessive stress on the water meter caused by pipes and fittings. If necessary, the water meter should be installed on a base or bracket. The upstream and downstream pipes should be properly fixed to ensure that no part will be displaced, its own weight when the water meter is removed or one side is disconnected.
- The water meter should be installed horizontally, with the arrow on the meter case consistent with the direction of water flow in the pipe. Control valves should be installed upstream and downstream of the water meter, and the inlet and outlet valves must be fully open during use. At the same time, an expansion joint or soft neck joint should be considered to be installed downstream of the water meter to facilitate the removal or maintenance of the water meter.
- In order to ensure that the water meter can work for a long time and measure accurately, the water meter and the pipe should always be filled with water. If there is a possibility of air entering the water meter, a vent valve should be installed upstream of the water meter.
- The installation location of the water meter should be protected from exposure to the sun, freezing, pollution and flooding. In high-cold areas, water meters should be installed outdoors as much as possible. If water meters must be installed outdoors, sun protection and anti-freeze measures should be taken to prevent the water meters from being exposed to the sun or cracked and affecting normal use. Avoid sudden changes in the flow cross-section near the water meter.
- Measures should be taken to prevent adverse hydraulic conditions (cavitation, surge, water hammer) to prevent water meter damage.
- Before installing the water meter, sand, gravel, hemp and other debris in the pipe must be removed. When installing the water meter, pay attention to the connection length of the water meter. When the distance between the two ends of the pipe exceeds the connection length of the water meter, the distance between the pipes should be corrected to meet the connection length of the water meter. Otherwise, if the distance is too large and the installation is forced, the water meter connection flange will be broken and damaged. If the distance is too small, the water meter cannot be installed. If the two ends of the water meter are not on the same axis, other methods should be used to correct the pipes to be on the same axis to meet the installation requirements of the water meter.
- When installing a water meter, it should be installed on a straight pipeline. Do not install the water meter at a height position that changes suddenly. Generally, a straight pipe section with the same diameter (D) as the water meter and a length of 10D and 5D should be installed upstream and downstream of the water meter. In particular, the straight pipe section installed upstream of the water meter should be as long as possible and should be installed between the control valve and the water meter. If this cannot be guaranteed, a straightening device should be installed upstream. When installing the water meter, the level should be checked to avoid working in an inclined state, may cause inaccurate measurement. At the same time, sudden changes in the flow section near the water meter should also be avoided.
- During long-term use of the water meter, in order to prevent sand, gravel and other debris from entering the water meter and affecting its accurate measurement or causing damage, a filter with the same nominal diameter as the water meter should be installed behind the water meter control valve. The filter should be removed and cleaned frequently, and impurities accumulated in the filter should also be removed to ensure accurate measurement of the water meter.
- If the above adverse conditions occur, you should contact the local water supply department or the management department of the water meter and solve them. Do not disassemble or assemble it by yourself.
- When the water meter is not in use, if the pointer moves slightly, it is caused by the presence of air in the pipe or the water pressure is not stable enough or other reasons. It is recommended to close the control valve upstream of the water meter or install a check valve at the water inlet end of the water meter when the water meter is not in use.
